SUMMARY:California’s Climate Leadership: Policies, Investments, and Challenges
DESCRIPTION:Last month, Governor Newsom said, “We (California) don’t imitate, we’re a model to the world. In climate, we want to continue to assert that leadership and continue to raise the bar.“\nThe Silicon Valley Leadership Group is hosting Lauren Sanchez, Governor Newsom’s Senior Climate Advisor. Lauren has worked on climate policy at CalEPA, the Air Resources Board, and the U.S. Department of State. She is a key architect of the Governor’s Climate investments, as laid out in the Governor’s January budget proposal. \nThe Leadership Group will meet with her in our new BASE Lines (Bay Area Sustainability and Energy) series to discuss solutions to the climate crisis and the policies and investments needed to make them happen. It’s going to be an engaging conversation so don’t forget to bring your questions! \nIf you wish to sponsor this roundtable, please reach out to SVLG’s VP of Events, Shannon De Atley-Johnon at sjohnson@svlg.org.\nBIOGRAPHY\nLauren Sanchez has over a decade of experience in tackling the climate crisis from government, academic and non-profit roles at the global, national and local levels. She currently serves as Governor Newsom’s Senior Advisor for Climate and most recently served as Senior Advisor to Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry. Prior to joining the Biden-Harris Administration, she was deputy secretary for climate policy and intergovernmental relations at the California Environmental Protection Agency and international policy director at the California Air Resources Board from 2017 to 2021. She was a climate negotiator at the U.S. Department of State from 2015 to 2017, serving on the Paris Agreement negotiation team. Sanchez is a Fulbright Scholar and earned a Master of Environmental Management degree from Yale University.\nREGISTERFor questions or to sign up to attend this event, please contact roundtables@svlg.org ( mailto:roundtables@svlg.org ). \nSPONSORS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you would like to sponsor this event, please contact events@svlg.org ( events@svlg.org ). \nNOTICERoundtables and town halls are exclusive events for SVLG members.\nPLEASE BE AWARE THAT BY ATTENDING THIS EVENT, YOU CONSENT TO YOUR VOICE, NAME, AND/OR LIKENESS BEING USED, WITHOUT COMPENSATION, IN ANY AND ALL MEDIA, WHETHER NOW KNOWN OR HEREAFTER DEVISED, IN PERPETUITY.
