Silicon Valley Leadership Group Advocacy

Overview

The Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG) connects business leaders with policymakers to help shape the policies defining the future of California’s innovation economy. Through a coordinated advocacy platform – from legislative engagement to regional leadership and thought leadership – SVLG advances practical solutions that strengthen Silicon Valley’s global competitiveness.

Key Engagement Opportunities

Our members have a unique opportunity to help shape public policy while building lasting relationships with key decision-makers. Through coordinated advocacy, targeted convenings, and direct engagement, SVLG creates meaningful pathways to influence California’s legislative and regulatory landscape. These efforts ensure industry leaders are not only well-informed, but actively involved in advancing practical, forward-looking policy solutions.

SVLG leads targeted engagement on priority legislation and regulatory actions shaping California’s innovation economy. This includes direct bill engagement, committee testimony, and coordinated advocacy through coalitions and industry partnerships.

Through this work, SVLG ensures that the perspectives of Silicon Valley’s leading employers are represented early and often in the policymaking process – helping to mitigate regulatory overreach and shape pragmatic, forward-looking policy outcomes

SVLG’s annual Advocacy Day brings members to Sacramento for a full day of direct engagement with legislators, administration officials, and senior policy staff shaping California’s innovation economy.

Participants take part in policy briefings, curated meetings with policymakers, and an evening reception that strengthens relationships with key decision-makers.

SVLG convenes small cohorts of member companies organized around priority sectors of the innovation ecosystem – including AI infrastructure and data centers, semiconductors, healthcare and hospitals, clean tech, autonomous vehicles, and workforce development.

These cohorts participate in focused meetings with policymakers and agencies, bringing real-world industry expertise to policy discussions.

SVLG hosts in-district briefings and roundtables in Silicon Valley that bring legislators together with business leaders for candid discussions around specific legislation or regional policy issues.

Hosted at member companies or partner institutions, these sessions often include policy discussions, industry briefings, or facility visits that help policymakers better understand the technologies and industries shaping the region’s economy.

SVLG represents member interests with city, county, and regional leaders across Silicon Valley on issues affecting the region’s economic vitality and quality of life – including housing, transportation, infrastructure, workforce development, energy reliability, and economic development.

SVLG’s advocacy efforts are reinforced by a dynamic thought leadership and public affairs platform. Through earned media, rapid-response communications, policy convenings, podcasts, video content, and strategic storytelling, SVLG elevates the perspectives of Silicon Valley’s leading employers and innovators in the broader public conversation.
