Making A Measurable Impact In Our Community

The foundation supports activities that encourage a strong sense of community. It also serves as a forum for nonpartisan research and analysis of public policy issues affecting the area, including education, energy, environmental protection, health, housing, land use, transportation, and racial justice and equity. It focuses on providing financial and promotional assistance to charities, business and community leaders, scholars, and other groups that support its mission.  

The foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization. The board is a group of dedicated business and community leaders from Silicon Valley and it works closely with the Silicon Valley Leadership Group.

Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot

The Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot benefits local charities, including the Healthier Kids Foundation, Housing Trust Silicon Valley, Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, Second Harvest Food Bank Santa Cruz County and The Health Trust. Founded in 2005, the Silicon Valley Turkey Trot has donated over $10 million to support those most in need in our communities and is the largest Thanksgiving Day race in the country.

Lam Research Heart & Soles Run

The Silicon Valley Leadership Group Foundation, in partnership with the Santa Clara County Office of Education, created the Heart & Soles Run to benefit children’s health and wellness in Silicon Valley. Lam Research lent its support as the title sponsor, and in 2014, the Lam Research Heart & Soles Run was founded. Since then, the race, which welcomes runners and walkers, has raised over $800,000 for our benefiting organizations.

Santa Run Silicon Valley

The Santa Run Silicon Valley supports Christmas in the Park and Downtown Ice. Over $400,000 has been raised to keep these cherished holiday traditions alive in San Jose. It has also collected almost 2,000 children's books in five years for Reading Partners. This 5K run and walk is fun for the whole family. Runners dress up as their favorite holiday characters or traditions. The racecourse winds through downtown San Jose and concludes at Christmas in the Park, where participants can enjoy the festivities with milk and cookies!
